Pattern I of the C Major Scale covers frets 7–10, with the root (C) at fret 8 on the 6th string. Like its pentatonic counterpart, the pattern begins one fret below the root — B on the 6th string at fret 7. With three notes on several strings, this pattern is denser than the pentatonic. Root notes fall on the 6th, 4th, and 1st strings.
