The Natural Minor Scale — also called the Pure Minor Scale or Aeolian mode — is the foundation the Minor Pentatonic is built from. Where the Minor Pentatonic uses five notes, the Natural Minor uses all seven: root (A), second (B), flat third (C), fourth (D), fifth (E), flat sixth (F), and flat seventh (G). Those two extra notes — the 2 and the b6 — add a darker, more classical color that works especially well in rock, metal, and fingerstyle playing.
