Strange Days Indeed: If you're on the email list, you've already heard about the latest life-changing events in the life of The Tares. The band will be going on hiatus after the August 10th show to allow time for a relocation to Austin, TX and a switch to a new rhythm section (to include Chicago bassist Chris Grady, formerly of the very fine Mt. Pilot). The Tares will be back in the clubs in early 2002 and will have a new, full-length album to support. This is a time of great changes, but we hope it is also a time of growth and widening horizons. (In the meantime, Dave and Russ will be going on tour with Charlie Mars Band. So catch them live if you can).

Sorry for the downtime, we've recently moved thetares.com to a new (and happier) home. So the site is back up, but we're still having technical difficulties with some things (like the message board). And everything needs updated (especially the shows page). So please bear with us in this time of transition.

Well, well, well, I'm still putting the finishing touches on my new diet plan and what else? The Tares are doing great. We took a bit of a hiatus in Dec and Jan but we are hitting it hard again in Feb and we'll be doing so from here on out. During our time off we got the pleasure of seeing the Flaming Lips on New Years Eve at the Metro in Chicago. We were put up by our friends MArshall and Katie and it was the best show/time I've ever had! We're finishing up the final mixes on our upcoming CD "Can't Have Anything Nice" and it will hit the shelves April 10th. Look for us on the road in Kansas City, Austin, Little Rock, and other places in Feb and MArch. Hope the new year is finding everyone a-ok! Adios, Russell

Well, Well, Well, Today has finally arrived. The Tares will be on Mtv tonight hanging out on The "Real" World. What will happen? How will the masses respond? Will the Tares' lives be forever and irreversably altered? The world waits impatiently.
Meanwhile we are drinking beer and writing new songs and playing out all over the midwest. A new album is coming out on Black Dog Records in February (just in time for Valentines day) and we're into another pressing of our first recording, the brother ep. Check it out on the Sounds section o' this site!
A few new shows to announce:
Saturday ROCKtober 21st The Wormy Dog Saloon, Stillwater OK. with Slobberbone
Saturday November 25th Davey's Uptown Ramblers, Kansas City, MO with Parley
Friday December 1st Sticky Fingerz Rock and Roll Chicken Shack, Little Rock, AR
Well, what's been happening you may ask? Drinking and playing on a train. Drinking and playing in Austin, TX. Drinking and playing in our basement. Yee Haw. We like drinking and playing. And if you're not into drinking and playing we're also into fistfights and cool cars. Anyway, If you want to choot the chit email me at email@example.com.
Keep On Rockin' To Free Bird,

We've just added some video from a live Tares performance in Austin, Texas. You'll need the Quicktime Player which is, as always, free from Apple (you don't need the $29.99 Pro version, just nab the free player).
