Pattern I of the C Major Pentatonic covers frets 7–10, with the root note (C) appearing at fret 8 on the 6th string. Note that the pattern actually begins at fret 7 — the lowest note, E on the 5th string, sits one fret below the root. Root notes fall on the 6th, 4th, and 1st strings.
