The C Major Blues Scale

The C Major Blues Scale is formed by adding one note to the C Major Pentatonic — the minor third (Eb). Just as the flat 5 acts as a chromatic passing note in the Minor Blues Scale, the Eb acts as a passing note here, adding a bluesy tension between the second (D) and the major third (E). The result is a scale that has the brightness of the Major Pentatonic but with a gritty, soulful edge. If you already know the C Major Pentatonic patterns, you only need to find where Eb slots in.
